In the fall of 2016, Simpsonville Garden Club applied for a grant for Accommodations Tax Funds from the city of Simpsonville. The funds were to be allocated in a manner that would promote future accommodations, growth, and tourism back into the city. Simpsonville Garden Club’s goal was to further enhance the aesthetics of our city for all residents and tourists.
In January, 2017, the club was awarded almost $10,000 for three projects: Ten large planters with structural evergreens and seasonal color in downtown Simpsonville at the intersection of South Main Street and Curtis near the historic clock tower; Restoration of the Carolina Fence Garden located in front of the train station in Heritage Park with new fencing, native trees, shrubs, grasses and perennials, and a Carolina Fence Garden sign; and Restoration of Veterans Memorial Park by replacing shrubs and plants in one section visible from Main Street and installing shrubs and plants in a new bed at the corner of Crisp Street and Main Street. These three projects were completed in 2017-2018. Five additional planters were installed on Main Street in fall 2020.

Simpsonville Garden Club has since continued to apply for and receive grants each year for the ongoing upkeep and enhancement of the civic beautification projects of Planters Around Town (Center for Community Services, Heritage Park Train Depot Entrance, Simpsonville Senior and Activity Center, Simpsonville Library Main St., Simpsonville Library Five Forks, College Park, Rotary Planter), Veterans Memorial Park, and the Carolina Fence Garden at Heritage Park. The club continues to add other locations around town to the beautification project list. All maintenance work is done by members of the club.
